Albert M.
Hoehn
April 21, 1937 – May 21, 2026
Albert M. Hoehn passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026 at Lightways Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 21, 1937, in Lockport, Illinois, to the late Ralph E. and Florence (Malcor) Hoehn, Al spent most of his adult life in Elwood, Illinois, where he built a life centered on family and friendship. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Paula M. Hoehn (Russell). His love and devotion to her were a true example of loyalty and enduring love for all who knew him.
He was a proud and loving father to Christina Doyle (Andrew) and Philip Resendiz (Jennifer), and an exceptional Papa to Caitlin Doyle, Emma Doyle (fiancée Nick Hamilton), Janaye Resendiz (fiancée Bobby Ciesielczyk), Madesyn Resendiz-Ochotorena (Conrad), and Avery Resendiz (fiancée Alex Bruno) and a Great-Papa to Brantley, Delilah, and Veda. He is survived by his sister Betty Jean Jacobucci (the late Chuck). He was preceded in death by his siblings Ralph P. Hoehn (Mary Jane), Virginia Lusciatti (Bob), Louis Hoehn (Diane), and Doris Ann Curry. He had many nieces and nephews he was fond of.
He attended Fairmont Grade School and Joliet Catholic High School before proudly answering his country's call to serve. Al served with distinction in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army, a testament to his dedication and commitment to his country. During his years of service, he developed the discipline, loyalty, and sense of duty that would define him throughout his life. Following his honorable discharge, Al built a respected career as a heavy equipment mechanic and retired from Illinois Bell in 1993 after many years of dedicated service.
Retirement suited Al well, and he embraced life fully. He loved spending time with family and friends, sharing stories, and making people laugh with his quick wit and silly jokes, or teaching you a random fact you never knew you needed.
Al will be remembered as a truly one of a kind man whose strength, humor, kindness, and love for his family left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation for Al will take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Prayers will be held at the funeral home at 12:30 P.M., followed by procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manhattan, for Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 P.M. Committal Service and Interment with full military honors will take place immediately following at 2:30 P.M. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lightways Hospice in Al's name, by mail to 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 or online at https://lightways.org/donate/ would be most appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan, IL 60442, 815-478-3321, www.forsythegouldfh.com.
