Obituary

Anthony James Lascola Sr. "Tony or Pops," age 87, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in Monee. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Judith Lynne (née Wise), his children Susan (Elisabeth) Wallace, James Wallace, Michael Wallace, John (Natalie) Alfano, Jacqueline (David) Stone, and Anthony James (Stephanie) Lascola Jr.; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; his sisters-in-law Geraldine "Geri" Lascola and Donna Doria; and his brother-in-law James (Sharon) Wise. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Theresa (nee Alfano) Lascola, and his brothers, Joseph and Charles Lascola. Pops was a graduate of St. Leo High School in Chicago. Following graduation, he became interested in all things automotive. It was in this industry that he made his living and supported his family for his lifetime. Pops also became the jack of all trades; he could fix anything and always lent a hand to anyone in need. Pops was an avid Chicago Bears and White Sox fan; he could also be found bowling at any local lanes for the past 25 years. His passion for bowling became contagious to his entire family, a pastime that continues to be enjoyed by all of them, in leagues or for pleasure. Pops was also an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, South Holland, serving as a deacon for several years. Pops oozed character: his knack for storytelling preceded him, and he loved to share his stories with anyone who would listen. To sum up Pop's life in a brief obituary is impossible, but what is most notable is that he was a devoted and loving husband to Judith, a dedicated and caring father to his children, and a doting and adoring grandfather and great-grandfather; time spent with his family is what brought Pops most joy. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Per Pop's wishes, cremation has been respectfully addressed. A memorial visitation will take place at his church, Redeemer Lutheran Church, South Holland, on June 13, 2026, from 10:00a.m. until 11:00a.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00am also at Redeemer Luther Church. His funeral service will take place immediately following at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony's name may be made to Redeemer's Lutheran Church, 651 E. 166th, South Holland, IL 60473 would be most appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan, IL 60442, 815-478-3321, www.forsythegouldfh.com.
