Obituary

Antonio "Tony" R. Moreno, age 76, of Des Plaines, IL formerly of Manhattan, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. He is survived by his sister, Maryian Blatti-Sellin, brother, Paul Moreno, nieces, Kelly (Dave) Andrew, Shelly (Danny) Vance, Jamie (Will) Markunas, Jackie Moreno, nephews, Doug Blatti Jr., Joe Blatti, John Tromp, Michael (Andrea) Tromp, Kevin (Sonja) Tromp, Ron Kieskowski, great-nieces, Brie-Anna Andrew, Stephanie Blatti, Lexi Moreno, Allison Tromp, Jade Tromp, Grace and Ava Markunas, great-nephews, Jake Tromp and Gabriel Tromp. Numerous great-great nieces and nephews also survive. Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lucille Moreno, brother, Frankie Moreno, sister, Arley Tromp-Francke, brother-in-law, Doug Blatti Sr., sister-in-law, Maureen Moreno and great-nephew, Nathan Andrew. Tony was a veteran and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967 where he was stationed in Korea on the 38th parallel. Tony worked for Cummins-Allison for 46 yrs. He was an alumni of the Purple Knights Drum and Bugle Corp. along with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corp. Tony was an ardent fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs. He also enjoyed watching WWE. A dedicated bicycle enthusiast, Tony rode his bike as a means of transportation for nearly 50 years and continued to do so until recently. He also loved music and was a very keen, self-taught piano/keyboard player. His most recent hobbies since retiring included: adult coloring books, puzzles and riding his bike to the nearest Barnes and Noble Bookstore. Tony could be seen almost every morning and afternoon enjoying the excellent dining and kind, caring service of Vicky and the staff at the Sugar Bowl Restaurant in Des Plaines, IL. Funeral Service for Tony will take place on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:15 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home in Manhattan. Interment with full military honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S.
