Obituary

Arthur D. Offerman "Dave", age 85, of Elwood, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Silver Cross Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn (nee Carlson) of 64 years, children, Michelle, Paul (Chris), William (Lisa), Mary (Charles) Tatroe and Marilyn (Mike) Bennett, numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren, sister, Maureen (Bob) Feeney, brothers, Jerry (Lori) and Frank (Patricia) and sister-in-law, Jeanne Offerman. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Dave is preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret (nee Hardy), sister, Joan (Vince) Tracy and brothers, George (Carole) and William Offerman. Dave grew up in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in 1955. He joined the Electrician's Local 176 and retired after many years of work. He married Marilyn on August 9, 1958, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Joliet. Dave and his family moved to Elwood in 1977 and have lived there since. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling to Florida, Texas and Alaska. Dave had his pilot's license and took great joy in flying his Cessna 152. Dave, along with his wife Marilyn, was a very involved member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manhattan. Visitation for Dave will take place on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home in Manhattan. Funeral service will be held the same day, beginning with prayers at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home followed by procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 235 W. North St., Manhattan, for 11:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Manhattan. Memorials in Dave's name made to St. Joseph Catholic Church would be most appreciated.
