Obituary

Audrey A. Newton, a cherished presence in Frankfort and Manhattan, IL, and a loving, spirited, and friendly soul, peacefully departed our world on February 11, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on February 22, 1933, Audrey's zest for life and her warm, engaging personality enriched the lives of those around her.

Survived by her children Tom (Cherie) Newton and Bob (Sue) Newton, grandchildren Justin, Jason, Nick (Nicole Carlson), Jack (Claudia Olech), and Ben Newton, brothers Jim (Janie) and John (Nancy) Nicholson, sister Linda (Nick) Fekken, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her cherished husband Jack Newton (2009) of 69 years, her parents Dwight and Jessie Nicholson (nee Henninger), daughter Terri Newton, sister Lois Robinson, and brother Bob Nicholson.

Audrey's career as a real estate agent afforded her many years of enjoyment and accomplishment, yet her dedication to community service was equally noteworthy, marked by her volunteer work at Silver Cross Hospital. Her earlier professional life included time at the Joliet Ammunition Plant and Hansen's Villa, an esteemed Manhattan boutique that benefited from her keen eye for style, particularly her adoration for all things animal print.

A people person to her core, Audrey thrived on her coffee dates, her love for her grandchildren, and her passion for animals and the great outdoors. Pentwater Beach, horseback riding, and sunbathing were among her favorite pastimes. Audrey's commitment to her faith was evident in her long-standing membership at the Green Garden Methodist Church. Dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed- she leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship that will continue to inspire and warm the hearts of many.
