Barbara "Barb" Lichtenwalter, age 76, of Wilmington, formerly of Manhattan passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Amita St. Joseph Hospital, Joliet. She is survived by her daughters Michelle Lichtenwalter and Beth (Chris) Heft, her son Mark (Kim) Lichtenwalter, her grandsons Matthew Lichtenwalter and Slade Heft, her granddaughter Skylar Heft, her brother Melvin (Ginny) Jager and her brother-in-law William (Bonnie) Facinelli. Preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Lucille Jager, her husband Veryl Lichtenwalter (2003) her sister Judith Facinelli and her brother Gordon Jager. Barbara was born in Springfield and later moved to Joliet. She was a graduate of Joliet Twp. High School, class of 1962. Barbara attended Joliet Jr. College and Illinois State University where she obtained a degree in Education. She married her husband Veryl and moved to Manhattan. Barbara taught grade school in Manhattan and Elwood for many years. She was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manhattan. She was extremely interested in genealogy and studying her family Irish history, but she was especially fond of spending time with her children and grandchildren. Visitation for Barbara will be on Saturday, January 9, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on the same day at 12:00 Noon also at the funeral home. All CDC rules will apply.
