BENJAMIN EDWARD ROBINSON

Benjamin Edward Robinson was born January 3, 1921 and passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 in Joliet, Illinois. Ben was born to Walter Edward and Susan Elinor Robinson. He spent his youth in Wilton Center and made his family home in Manhattan, Illinois for over thirty years before retiring to Missouri & California. They returned to their homeland in 2003 and resided in the area until his death. Ben was a veteran of World War II and served as an airplane mechanic in the Army Air Corps in Kansas City, Missouri and Pampa, Texas. Ben met his bride, Leora Mildred Pollick, in Kansas City, Missouri and they married on September 6, 1944 in Joliet, Illinois. They were happily married for more than sixty-nine years. Ben worked as a welder for Standard Oil for more than twenty years and then for L.E. Meyers Company until he retired. After his retirement Ben and Leora traveled the United States. Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Leora, his brother, Clyde, and his parents, Walter and Elinor Robinson. He is survived by his four children: Marilyn L. Girton (Steve Girton), Carol L. See (Jim See), William T. Robinson and Nancy K. Brandon (Bill Brandon). Ben was the grandfather to seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. A private family service was held at the Forsythe Funeral Home in Manhattan, Illinois.
