Bernadette "Bernie" A. Albert (nee Maloney), age 78, of Manhattan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Silver Cross Hospital with her loving family at her side. Survived by her son Anthony "Tony" (Sherri) Albert, grandchildren Caitlin Miller, Jordan (Carly) Miller, Nathan Albert and Faith Albert, great grandchildren Cameron and Kennedy Miller, sisters Julia (Chris) Pucel and Mary (John) Baskerville, sister-in-law Judy Maloney, best friend Mary Storie, numerous nieces and nephews and her faithful canine companion Daisy. Preceded in death by her parents Joseph Sr. and Alice Maloney, twin brother in infancy Bernard Maloney, siblings Margaret Maloney, Joseph Maloney Jr., Rita Takacs, and Lawrence Maloney and her beloved dog Penny. Bernie attended Waubonsee College of Nursing and worked as a nurse at St. Joseph Medical Center in various departments and retired after several years. After retiring Bernie became the Manhattan area caregiver for a number of residents. Bernie enjoyed gardening and was a successful crafter. She was also an animal lover, her dogs were a highlight in her life. Bernie's personality was contagious, she never knew a stranger as she would talk at length to just about anyone. Bernie was a loving mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend who took most joy in surrounding herself with family and friends, she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 31, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 11:00 A.M. followed by procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 235 W. North St., Manhattan, for 11:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Joliet. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bernadette's name to SOS Villages of Lockport by visiting www.sosillinois.org/giving/donations/.
