Obituary

Betty Hansen of Manhattan, passed away peacefully this week surrounded by her loved ones. Born in 1933, Betty grew up in Morris and was married to Sherman Hansen for over 55 years before he preceded her in death. Survived by her son Lee (Cindy) Hansen, Larry (Mandy) Hansen, grandchildren JoAnne (Matt) Smith, Korin (Dan) Matter, and Steven Hansen, great grandchildren, Sadie, Fiona and Henry Smith and special companion Bob Horkey. Betty was known for her high energy personality and her entrepreneurial spirit who co-founded Hansen's Supermart with husband Sherman and then went on to open Hansen's Villa, a successful boutique dress shop that she ran for over 50 years. She loved gathering with friends and family, hosting holidays, socializing at the casinos, and dining out. She enjoyed watching baseball, attending church, and eating ice cream. A hard working, dedicated, and loving woman, she will be missed. Visitation will take place at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home in Manhattan on Monday, February 13, 2023, from 9am to 11am. Funeral service will take place at 11am. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Any donations should be directed to the Parkinson's Foundation.
