Betty Smagacz (nee Orzak) age 92, of Manhattan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 with family at her side. Survived by her close friend Phil Tribuani, her loving children Myja (Ralph) Buglio, Aveda (Thomas) Marotta and Michael (Andrea) Smagacz, her grandchildren Anthony (Colleen) Buglio, Nicholas Buglio, Michael (Sarah) Smagacz, Alyx (Peter) Steltz, Hayden (Merlin) Smagacz, Zeke (Jess) Marotta, Jake (Jamie) Marotta and Skyler Marotta, great grandchildren Nathan, Everett, Antoinette, Evelyn, Annelise, Leah and Benjamin and her faithful canine companion "Maggie Mae". Preceded in death by her parents John and Bernice Orzak, her husband Harold J. Smagacz, her grandson T.J. Marotta, and her sister and brother-in-law Jean (Bill) Tipping. Betty graduated from Kelly High School in Chicago. She married at 25 and raised her family. Betty worked at Trost Model Craft and retired after 30 years. Betty enjoyed playing cards, a game of Scrabble, watching Gun Smoke and going out to eat to name a few but what brought Betty most joy was spending time with her family. Funeral service for Betty will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Visitation will be the same day from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
