Brenda Findley, age 73, of Elwood, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. She is survived by her loving son, Jeff (Christine) Findley, her dear grandson, Justin Findley and her brother, Phil Sylvester, all of Elwood. Preceded in death by her parents, Russ and Wilma (nee Nixon) Sylvester, her infant brother, Jimmy, and her long time companion, Ralph Bush, Jr. Brenda attended Elwood Grade School and Joliet Township High School. She was employed by the Boston Store, Uniroyal, Joliet Army Ammunition Plant (along with many others in her family), and after the plant closed, she dispatched limos and tended bar at Marta's and Bill's Inn. Later, Brenda was employed by Elwood School and First Student as a bus driver and helped out at Glasscock Farms. When she wasn't working away from home, Brenda could be found in the barn with her many loved animals. She fostered and adopted many unwanted and forgotten dogs, cats, birds, ponies, and a deer. Brenda was an animal lover and an animal patriot, for those that knew her and loved her, her spirit and compassion for those defenseless or homeless pets came as no surprise. The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Joe's ICU, the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home staff, and the Elwood Fire Department. Funeral service for Brenda will be 12:00p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Forsythe Funeral Home with Pastor Carrie Capral officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment Providence Ridge Cemetery, Elwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Brenda's name to a local NO KILL animal shelter of your choice would be most appreciated.
