January 10, 1979 – February 2, 2024
Brian Daniel Chellios, age 45, of New Lenox, formerly of Manhattan, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Silver Cross Hospital with his loving family at his side. Survived by his parents Danny and Lynn (nee Fitzgerald) Chellios, his siblings Eric Chellios and Stacie (Ryan) Streicher, his maternal grandparents Jack and Judy Fitzgerald, his nieces and nephew Addison, Emma, McKenna, and Logan, his aunts and uncles Shelia Perkins, Roseann (Tracy) Johnson, Karen (Steve) Chellios, Kelly Patterson, Jackie (Pat) Reilly, John (Jennifer) Fitzgerald and numerous cousins. Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Constantino "Connie" and Rosemary Chellios. Brian was a graduate of Lincoln-Way Central High School, Prairie State Community College with his associate degree, University of Arizona with his bachelor's degree in public administration and numerous fire science classes from several schools. Brian was currently working on his master's degree from Southern New Hampshire University. Brian began his fireman/paramedic career as a volunteer firefighter with Manhattan Fire Department. He worked his way up to Chief of University Park Fire Department and held all ranks in between. He was an active member of Local 3661 where he served on the Union Board and the AFFI Honor Guard for multiple years. His brothers at UPFD are quoted in saying, "Brian was the embodiment of Pride, Duty, and Tradition." Brian also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Chicago Bears, Cubs, Blackhawks and Notre Dame. He was quick witted and was famous for his one-liners and quoting movie lines. Brian was a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations in Brian's name may be made to University Park local 3661, 698 Burnham Dr, University Park, IL 60484, or the Manhattan Fire Department, PO Box 65, Manhattan, IL 60442 and would be most appreciated. Visitation for Brian will take place on Thursday, February 8, 2024, from 3-8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. An additional hour of visitation will take place the following day, Friday, February 9, 2024, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of his funeral at 11:00 A.M. also at the funeral home.
