Carl W. Lawson, age 82, of Elwood, formerly of Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Salem Village Nursing Home with family at his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Alice (nee Manifold), his children, Larry (Anne) Lawson of KY, Robin (Rick) Keller of OH, Sheila (Steve) Murphy of Manhattan, six grandchildren, Amy Fracassi, Kelli (Ron) Shannahan, Jeremy Duffy, Patrick (Kristi) Duffy, Ashley Murphy-Bergthold, and Brandon (Jenna) Murphy, thirteen great grandchildren, five sisters, one brother, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Bartley and Pearl (nee Hopkins) Lawson, and one sister. Carl worked as a tool and dye maker at General Motors in Willow Springs. He love the outdoors and spending time in Florida. Carl could never be found sitting idle for too long, he was always finding something to do, even if it was taking a walk. Funeral service for Carl will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 19, 2014 at Forsythe Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment St. Joseph Guardian Angel Cemetery, Manhattan. Memorials in Carl's name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be most appreciated.
