Carola Jean Utermark (nee Koch), age 90, of Elwood, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox with family at her side. Survived by her loving children; Mary (John) Perham, Tom (Lynn) Utermark, Kathy Smith, Carola (Paul) Beemsterboer, Carl (Jennifer) Utermark, Teresa (Paul) Mathews, Mike (Renee) Utermark and Kris (Jill) Utermark, her grandchildren; Kim (Matt) DeVries, Victoria (Matt) Poss, Matt (Gabi) Utermark, Steven (Drea) Utermark, Kaitlyn (Eric) McGee, Trisha Smith, Keith (Ashley) Smith, Joe Rodgers, Mike (Casey) Rodgers, Brian Rodgers, Tim Rodgers, Adam (Courtney) Utermark, David (Tanisha) Utermark, Megan Gassel, Bill (Courtney) Mathews, Jenna Mathews, Kaitlyn Mathews, Jake (Kristin) Utermark, Josh Utermark, Emily (Konnor) Smith, Will (Kathryn) Utermark, Nora Utermark and Hayden Stasiak, 17 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Carl and Carola Koch, her husband Stanley (2020), a daughter in infancy, sister and brother-in-law Marianne and Jack Zwart, Brothers and sisters-in-law John and Lorraine Koch and Joseph and Marion Koch. Carola was a graduate of Fenger High School, Class of 1950. She attended the Chicago Teachers College for one year and worked for Illinois Bell for two years. Carola then stayed home and raised her children for 20 years before returning to work for District 228, Bremen, Hillcrest, Oak Forest & Tinley Park. Carola has described her life as incredibly busy yet extremely fulfilling, her family was her greatest love and spending time with them was what brought her most joy. Thank you for Carola was never enough, she most often thanked others with her sweet smile and a candy bar. Carola was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and her example of generosity and love will always be remembered. Visitation will be Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 3-8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, April 1, 2022 beginning with prayers at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home followed by procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 235 W. North St., Manhattan, for 10:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with will take place immediately after Mass at 12:30 P.M. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL where Carola will be reunited with her loving husband Stanley. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carola's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital here and Shriners Hospitals for Children here would be most appreciated.
