Carolyn S.
Hiller
July 29, 1938 – December 27, 2025
Carolyn S. Hiller, age 87 of New Lenox, formerly of Manhattan, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025 at The Cottages of New Lenox. Survived by her children David (Tracy) Hiller, Linda (Tony) Aiello, Sharon (Bob) Zolner, Dan (Janice) Hiller, and John (Tracy) Hiller, grandchildren Eric (Neilikka), Rachel (Seth), Mark (Marrem), Carolyn, Chris (Calla), Melissa, Alex, Andrew (Kate), Steven, Cami, Emily, Thomas, and Sophia, great grandchildren Milla, Henrik, Athena, Zachary, Cody, and Luke, brother Raymond (Ina) Brixey and sister Shirley Jones. Numerous nephews and nieces also survive. Preceded in death by her husband Albert, parents Eskell and Lillian (nee Earl) Brixey, and brother-in-law Ray Jones. She enjoyed regular visits from Pastor Kevin Hahn while she was a resident at The Cottages in New Lenox, and the family is especially thankful for the time he spent with her, even in her final hours.
Carolyn was the loving wife of Albert Hiller (2014) for 54 years. She worked as a wonderful hands-on mom, raising and supporting their family, and helped to milk the cows on the farm until their children were old enough to take over. Alongside Albert, she was a long-term member of the Will County Farm Bureau and heavily involved in their Prime Timers group. She greatly enjoyed their bus adventures traveling to musical performances, national park tours, restaurants and other community events. After marrying Albert, she became a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Joliet, IL.
Those who knew Carolyn best knew her to be honest, sweet, generous, and a genuine woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She was quietly sociable and held a lot of love for her family and friends. Even at the end of her life, her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her pride and joy. She was always a passionate reader when time allowed and although she was a wonderful baker, she loved dining out, especially eager to try new restaurants. She was a cherished mother, grandma, great grandma, sister, aunt, and friend who will be very missed by those who knew and loved her.
Visitation for Carolyn will take place at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home from 9:00 A.M. until the time of Service at 11:00 A.M. on January 2, 2026, also at the funeral home with Pastor Hahn officiating. Procession to Manhattan Center Cemetery will immediately follow, where she will be laid to rest and reunited with her dear husband. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to Will County Farm Bureau Foundation, 100 Manhattan Rd., Joliet, IL 60433, or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 177 Luther Ln, Frankfort, IL 60423, would be most appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan, IL 60442, 815-478-3321, www.forsythegouldfh.com.
