Charles E. Nordsell, Jr., age 84, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Heritage Manor in Peru. He is survived by his loving daughter Laura (Brian) Panicucci of Oglesby, IL, three grandchildren; Brittany, Kristen, and Nicholas Panicucci, two great grandchildren, Charlie and Camden, and his caregiver and friend Jade "Jane" Blackburn. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (nee Tessmer) (2015) and two sisters. Charles was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean Conflict. He was known for his hard work ethic and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for many years eventually retiring from Amtrak. Charles wasn't one to sit idle, so he took up small jobs including flower delivery which he also did for several years. Charles was a long-time member of Green Garden United Methodist Church where he had many friends. Charles had many hobbies, he collected stamps, coins of all sorts and he thoroughly enjoyed antique guns and he even made his own bullets. Most of all Charles was a family man, he never stopped missing his dear Betty, his going home to the love of his life is the greatest consolation. Funeral service for Charles will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Green Garden United Methodist Church, Green Garden, with Pastor Richard Young officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will be at Green Garden Green View Cemetery, Green Garden, next to his beloved wife. Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S.
