Daniel N.
Casper
April 22, 1964 – February 21, 2025
Daniel N. Casper, known affectionately to many as "Dan the Weather Man," left our world on February 21, 2025, at the age of 60 at Silver Cross Hospital with his many loving friends at his side. Born in Joliet, IL, on April 22, 1964, Dan grew up with a curiosity about the skies that would shape his future.
Daniel is survived by his distant brother Steve Casper, his special friends Laura and Mike Adrieansen, his best friend of 34 years Hank Skala, and the entirety of the Manhattan community, which he held dear. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann Marie Casper in 2019 and George Casper in 2008.
After graduating from Lincoln-Way Central High School, Dan delved deeper into his passion for weather, attending the School of Columbia majoring in Meteorology and studying under the renowned Tom Skilling. He went on to become a cherished meteorologist for the Manhattan Weather Channel and served as the director of operations, touching the lives of viewers with his intelligent forecasts and spirited charm. His collaboration with FOX 32 Chicago's Mike Caplan spoke volumes of his professionalism and skill. Beyond his broadcasting achievements, Dan owned and operated Midwest Video Productions, where his talents as a videographer were equally lauded.
Off-screen, Dan's courageous heart was evident in his personal life. As an avid Packers and Cubs fan, his enthusiasm was infectious, and his love of trivia nights made him a favorite among friends. He had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, which was most apparent in the bond he shared with his faithful canine companion, Haley. His legacy will be remembered as one of fortitude, joy, and the relentless pursuit of knowledge. His was truly a life that embodied the spirit of discovery and the warmth of genuine connection.
