Daniel K. McInerney, age 83, of Green Garden Township, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Lightways Hospice, Joliet. Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Gail (nee Sarno-Peterson) McInerney, his children Sheree (John) Surdey, Steven (Malissa Jensen) Peterson, James (Kelly) Peterson, Charlene (Michael Flanagan) Peterson, grandchildren Charles Surdey, Stephanie (Mike) Orvis, Melissa (Michael) Troescher, Michelle (fiancé Daniel Francis) Peterson, great grandchild Elias Orvis, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, his equestrian companion Raven and his feline companion Nala. Preceded in death by his parents James and Helen McInerney, and his brothers Michael, James, and Ray McInerney. Daniel proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy enlisting at a young age. After his service Daniel worked as a truck driver and was a member of the Local Union 705 for many years. He enjoyed the Chicago Bears and golfing. Daniel thoroughly enjoyed his luncheons with his buddies every third Thursday and he was also heavily involved with AA. He was a sponsor to countless people through the years and undoubtedly saved many lives. Daniel was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation for Daniel will be on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 4-8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at 9:30 A.M. also at the funeral home. Immediately following Daniel's funeral service, interment with full military honors will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, at 11:00 A.M.
