Daniel W. Thorpe, age 35, of Manhattan, passed away unexpectedly of an undetected heart condition on November 26, 2022, at his home. He is survived by his mother, Kelly (Bob) Bilek, father, William (Mary) Thorpe, siblings, Bill (Dana) Thorpe, Alex (Monika) Thorpe, Nick (Ashley) Thorpe, Jacob Bilek, Hannah Bilek, Colleen (Ryan) Gottardo, nieces and nephews, Dylan, Tristan, Nolan, Konrad, Henry, Harper, Evan, Stella, Emilia, step grandmother, Janice Bilek and his Godmother, Apryl Keesling. Daniel was a nephew to numerous aunts and uncles and was a cousin to many. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Patricia and Robert Miller, Lorelei and Robert Thorpe and step grandfather, Gary Bilek. Daniel attended Plainfield South High School and was named MVP of the Track and Field team where he participated in events such as the 4x100 and 4x200 meter relays. He was also a member of the Plainfield South Cougars football team for all 4 years. In addition to athletics, Dan was involved with the chess club at school. Dan thrived on education and furthered his education attaining two associates degrees. He was a Chicago sports fan and enjoyed watching Bear's games. He was employed at the BP in Manhattan for a time. Dan was an avid gamer and loved gaming with his nephews and his cousin Hunter. He also enjoyed music and was a self-taught guitar player. What Dan enjoyed most, was spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted and generous person. Visitation for Daniel will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 1-7:00 P.M at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place the same evening at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in Daniel's name may be made by mail to the Manhattan Food Pantry, 230 Wabash St., Manhattan, IL 60442. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S.
