Darrin M. Jens, age 41, of Mundelein, passed away on December 8, 2015 at his home after battling a host of medical issues. He is survived by his mother, Caroline Kennedy, his father, Richard (Annie) Jens, his loving wife, Michelle (nee Dillon) Jens, his children Kloey and Tyler Jens, his brother, Eric (Lara) Jens, his sister, Ashley (John Ray) Connell, his mother-in-law, Mary Dillon, two sisters-in-law, Kimberly (Matt) Stone and Nicole (Israel) Alvarado, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by father-in-law, Edward Dillon, his maternal grandparents, Margaret and Ralph Jobe, his paternal grandparents, Mildred and Robert Jens, and his grandparents-in-law, Mary and Louis Mendez, and Luther and Pricilla Dillon. Darrin spent 20 years in law enforcement, his duties included, Air Marshall, Homeland Security, Diplomatic Security among others. He served in the United States Marine Core and was stationed in Okinawa as a Motorcycle Military Police Officer. Darrin was a natural sharp shooter with Rifles and pistols. During his service years, he received numerous medals, honors and awards. Most notably, Darrin was a first responder at the Pentagon on 9-11. He rescued many people in perilous conditions without regard for his own safety, he was a hero among many that day and will always be remembered as such. Above all the roles Darrin held in life, the two he held most dear to his heart was husband and father, he cherished his family and will forever be missed. Funeral service for Darrin Jens will be at 12:00 P.M., Monday, December 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment with full military honors will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood at 2:00 P.M. In Lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be most appreciated.
