Dawn M. (nee Kestel) Torsan, age 49, of Manhattan, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning December 11, 2018 at Silver Cross Hospital with family at her side. She is survived by her loving parents Paul and Candy (nee Smith) Kestel, her children Nathan and Makayla Torsan, her sister Candy (John) Jesernik, her brother Michael (Mary) Kestel, and nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her daughter Gabriela Torsan, her aunt Jill Miller-Perez, and her mother-in-law Margaret "Vicki" Torsan.
Dawn grew up on a farm with her siblings and always considered herself a farm girl at heart. She was a graduate of Providence Catholic High School class of '87. Dawn then attended Moraine Valley College for a short while before finding a position at the Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification where she worked for a number of years. Dawn had many hobbies, among them she especially enjoyed cooking, scrapbooking, and playing candy crush, it was noted that her phone was her lifeline in many ways. Dawn was an intelligent, patient, and loving person and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral service for Dawn will be Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Visitation will be the same day from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Manhattan. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dawn's name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association may be made by visiting www.mda.org.
