Dennis J. Stephenson, age 76, of New Lenox, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Bria of Geneva, Geneva, IL. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Nancy (nee Schroeder) Stephenson, his children Steve Hoerres, Cathy (David) Price, Donna (Jeff) Mylin, and Paul (Diana) Stephenson, his grandchildren Sydney (Mohsin) Azmat, Zack Price, Grace Mylin, Paul Stephenson, and Scott Stephenson, his siblings Emmett (Kathy) Stephenson, Diane Pillion, and his sister-in-law Audrey Waylander and brother-in-law Fred Schroeder and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Herman and Francis (nee Rose) Stephenson, and his sisters-in-law Judy Gardner and Barbara Schroeder. Dennis was a graduate of Joliet West High School and University of Illinois, Champagne. He worked at Inwood Golf Course at age 16 and discovered he had a passion for the game. Dennis golfed for Joliet West and for the University of Illinois. He continued to play golf for the rest of his life. Dennis also enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and the Fighting Illini. Dennis liked yard work and he especially liked lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Most of all, Dennis was a family man, he held his family dear, spending time with them was what brought him joy. Visitation for Dennis will take place on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 12:00 P.M. until the time of his funeral service at 2:00 P.M. Cremation will follow. Dennis will be laid to rest with his parents at Galva Cemetery, Galva, IL at a later date.
