Obituary

Donald "Don" Thomas Kestel, age 73, of Manhattan passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox. Survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Tammi (nee Yates), his children Tammy (Steve) Platek, Tracy (Dave) Rymarcsuk, Tana Kestel and Adam Kestel, his grandchildren Scott, Ashley and Emma Platek and Hailey and Madison Rymarcsuk, his twin brother Doug (Judy) Kestel, his sister Joan Reiter, his sister-in-law Candy Kestel, numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful canine companion "Molly". Preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Marjorie (nee Hardy) Kestel, his brother Paul Kestel and his niece Dawn Kestel-Torsan. Don was a graduate of Catholic High. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Andrew Corporation for many years until he retired and worked part time at Ace Hardware in Manhattan for 9 years. Don enjoyed camping but above all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Visitation for Don will be Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 4-8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, May 27, 2021 beginning with prayers at 9:30 A.M. from the funeral home in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church for 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial with Fr.
