Donald "Duck" Marietta, age 81 of New Lenox passed away peacefully at his home on Friday January 19, 2018 with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Seehafer) of 61 years; daughters Gina Krumreich and Lisa Smith (Jeffery-2017); Son Scott (Debra) Marietta; grandchildren Aaron (Colleen) Krumreich, Amber (Jeremy) Hylka, Katelyn Krumreich, Chelsea Krumreich, Christopher Smith, Delainey Smith; great-grand children Caleb, Lucy, Evie, Glenda; Sister Donna Zoran and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Peter and Ruth (nee Miller) Marietta; brother Robert Marietta; sisters Dorothy Vargo, Norma Colonegsi, Joan Krueger.
Donald grew up in Joliet, IL and resided in New Lenox. He was a graduate of Joliet Township High School and shortly after that he began his career as a machinist. He continued this career for 46 years before retiring. He enjoyed doing yard work, tending to his garden and he loved to fish in Wisconsin. He cherished his Sunday dinners and holidays with family. Donald was a devoted father and grandfather and will dearly be missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Jude Catholic Church, 241 W 2nd Ave New Lenox at 11:00 A.M., Monday January 22, 2018, with Fr. Bill Sullivan officiating.
