Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Gerald “Jerry” Vanderhyden (March 2026), parents Robert E. and Mae Rose (nee Strasman) Lee, and brothers James and Jack (late Susie) Lee.
Edie graduated from Joliet Township High School. On October 10, 1959, shortly after graduating, she married the love of her life, Jerry. They were forever conjoined at the hip no matter where they were; she took care of their children and the household while helping to run his business, Vanderhyden Septic Service -- answering customer calls and managing the bookwork for many years of operation while he was out on the job. She loved going out to the gambling boat with him when they had time to spare, always sharing in good fun. Edie was proud of their family and the life they created together. A dear mother, grandma, great grandma, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by all who loved and cherished her.
Per Edie’s wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan, IL 60442, 815-478-3321, www.forsythegouldfh.com
