Edward W. VanLoon, age 85, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025 at The Cottages, New Lenox with his loving family at his side. Survived by his wife of 61 years Jill (nee Higgins) VanLoon, his daughters Kris VanLoon, Kathy (John) Ferry, and Kerry (Tom) Thomason, his grandchildren; Kailey (David) Moore, Abel Ferry, and Clarissa Ferry, his step-granddaughter Lori (Josh) Ferguson and his step great-grandchidren Zia and Fox, his nieces and nephews Preston (Mary Ann) VanLoon, Randy VanLoon, Sandra Becka, Jennifer Becka, Michael Hamler and David Hamler, his sisters-in-law Nancy (Donald) Becka and Jacki (Greg) Hamler and several great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents John and Agnes VanLoon and his brother Andrew VanLoon. Edward was a graduate of Chicago Vocational High School and a 60 plus year member of the sheet metal union Local #73. He was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors, was a member of the Wilmington Sportsman's Club. Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
