Obituary

Elbert "Roy" Norris, age 85, of Joliet, passed peacefully at Joliet Area Community Hospice House in Joliet on Saturday, August 28, 2021. He is survived by two daughters Catherine (Steve) Parks and Sandra (Franklin) Forsythe, two sons Timothy (Michelle) and Jeffrey (Kathy), six grandchildren; Stephen (Jackie), Gina "B", Kristin, Katelyn (Jon), Jessica (Scott) and Jesse, six great grandchildren; Alex, Kacie, Jason, Ricky, Collin and Jayden. A dear friend and special caring soul Maria Lerma also survives along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents James and Florence Norris, his wife of 60 years Marlene nee Leadingham, two infant sons Phillip and Ronald and one adult son Brian. Roy was the youngest of 12 children and all of his siblings have also preceded him. He was born and raised in TN. At the age of 16 he journeyed north to Illinois and met his wife to be Marlene. He landed a job at the Ford Stamping Plant in Chicago Heights and worked there for over 30 years. He was an accomplished guitar player and loved music and he especially enjoyed playing with his best friend Ken Tolbert. He was naturally talented and could build or fix just about anything. He was good at electrical, plumbing, wood working, air conditioning and automotive repairs. He was blessed in figuring things out. Roy was a member of Joliet Church of Christ. Visitation for Elbert will be Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 3:00-5:30 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, Manhattan. Funeral Service will be held the same day, Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 5:30P.M. at the funeral home. Elbert's funeral service will be live streamed and may be viewed by highlighting and right clicking this link: https://www.asimplestreaming.com/enorris. Per Elbert's wishes, cremation will follow.
