Elisabeth "Lis" J. Hayes (nee Sewing) age 53, of Manhattan, passed away peacefully at her home with family at her side on Sunday, February 14, 2016. She is survived by her father, Heinz Sewing, her loving husband of 30 years, Michael Hayes, four sisters; Heidi McWilliams, Christine Ford, Nancy Vaira and Diane Sewing, three brothers; David (Nancy) Sewing, Timothy (Patty) Sewing, and Paul (Kathy) Sewing, her parents-in-law, Jack and Carol Hayes, three sisters-in-law, Sue Saul, Kerry (Robert) Laycoax, and Kelly Hayes, numerous nieces and nephews and her faithful canine companion, "Sadie". Preceded in death by her mother, Carol (nee Gray) Sewing, one brother, Heinz Jr., and one sister-in-law, Deby Hayes. Elisabeth was born and raised in Elwood, she attended Joliet East, Class of '80. Lis was a loyal employee of Walgreens for 35 years where she touched many lives. Lis was a model employee, she was dedicated, reliable, and knowledgeable in all aspects of her career at Walgreens, her guidance there will surely be missed. Among many things Lis enjoyed, she was especially fond of antiques, decorating, and cooking, but most of all, Lis loved spending time with her family and her "Sadie". Funeral service for Elisabeth will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 18, 2016 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 310 North Broadway Street, Joliet. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 3-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and again from 9:00 A.M. until her time of service at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
