Emily Baltas (nee Sustersich) age 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Manhattan on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. She is survived by her children, Toni (John) Boseo of WI, James (Kay) Baltas of Manhattan, Bill (Terri) Baltas of New Lenox, and Chris (Kimberly) Baltas of Manhattan, eight grandchildren, Kelly (Jason Wilson) Baltas, Melissa (Wade) Welch, Jacob Baltas, Kaitlyn Boseo, Lauren Baltas, Meghan Baltas, Aislinn Baltas, and Kyra Baltas, four great grandchildren, Ben, Tyler, Lincoln, and Alex, two sisters, Antonette "Dolly" (Ed-deceased) Pucel, Elsie (Francis-deceased) Plese, four sisters-in-law, Genevieve Vrakas, Sophie Honiotes, Irene Baltas, and Marina Passas and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Antonia (nee Gerbin) Sustersich, her husband Jacob (1975), and one sister Pauline Vargocko. Emily was born and raised in Rockdale where she married Jacob in 1952 at St. Joseph's Church. In 1961, Emily and Jacob moved to Manhattan and began farming. She was a long time faithful member of St. Joseph Church, Manhattan. Funeral service for Emily will be Saturday, December 20, 11:00 a.m. from Forsythe Funeral Home in procession to St. Joseph Church for 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be the same day from 9-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Manhattan. Memorials in Emily's name to Vitas Hospice would be most appreciated.
