Eugene Osmus, age 88, of Manhattan, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2015 at Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Yvonne (nee Hill) Osmus, his daughter, Karen (James) Gentile of Manhattan, one son, Kevin Osmus of Joliet, two sisters, Betty Herbst and Judy Bunte, both of Manhattan, two grandchildren, Ryan and Charles Gentile, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mollie Osmus and his brother-in-law, George "Pinky" Herbst. Gene worked for 26 years at Silver Cross Hospital as a supervisor of Boiler Operation, he also worked for K-mart for 18 years. He was a life-long member of St. Joseph Church, Manhattan, where he and his wife cleaned the rectory for 20 years. Funeral service will be 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 15, from Forsythe Gould Funeral Home to St. Joseph Church for 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be Monday, September 14, 2015 from 3-7:00 p.m. Interment, Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Memorials to St. Joseph Church would be appreciated.
