Francis Bernard Offerman, age 75, born into life December 7, 1947 and born into eternity April 10, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Jean (nee Hill) of 55 years, children, Christine (Tony) Izzarelli, and Brent (Melissa) Offerman, loving grandchildren, Ryan Offerman, Anthony and Dominic Izzarelli. He is also survived by his sister Maureen Feeney, brother Jerry (Lori) Offerman, sisters-in-law Jeanne Offerman and Marilyn Offerman. Mother-in-law, Betty Hill, Brother-in-law, Robert (Marianne) Hill, Craig (Cathy) Hill, Scott Hill, Kenneth Hill and sister-in-law Laura (Robert) Leeman. Numerous nephews and nieces. Lifetime friend Tom (Kathy) Whitgrove, Marge Burns, friends Dan (Sue) Matteson, Linda Dunivant, and many more.
He is preceded in death by his parents George and Margaret (nee Hardey) Offerman, his father-in-law, Francis Hill, brothers George (Carole) Offerman, William Offerman and Arthur "Dave" Offerman. Sister Joan (Vince) Tracy. Brother-in-law Robert Feeney. Sisters-in-law Jerene (nee Hill) Mosier and Kimberly Hill. Lifetime childhood friend, Terrance Burns.
Francis was born and raised in Joliet, Illinois. Attended St. Patrick Catholic Grade School and graduated from Joliet Catholic High, class of 1965. Married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Hill, in 1967. He began his electrical apprenticeship with local 176 and was a proud IBEW member for many years. Francis received his certification from The Wharton School of Finance-Money Management at the University of Pennsylvania. From then on, he had a passion for finance and pension funds, specifically for his brotherhood to IBEW, Local 176. He was a business owner of Frank Offerman Quality Built Homes with a desire to build "quality" not "quantity". Francis was dedicated to his faith, his wife, two children, and grandchildren. He spoke highly of his grandchildren, was very proud of all his nieces and nephews; furthermore; grateful and humbled for his upbringing, moreover, for the guidance and love from his brothers and sisters. He was dedicated to serving his community through Manhattan Lions Club, Saint Joseph Parish Mens Club, and volunteered his time by helping others. He was a man of discernment, enjoyed teaching, instructing, and building relationships through the gift of conversation. He was a faithful Alumni of Joliet Catholic High School, dedicated football fan of Joliet Catholic High School, and his goal was to fine tune his game of golf. Francis was known for his wisdom of words, his love for others, and passion for politics. His words of wisdom will be missed. "Be good, do well, be joyful in all that you do." Visitation for Francis will take place on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 2-6:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place the following day, Monday, April 17, 2023 beginning with prayers at 9:30 A.M. at the funeral home then in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 235 W. North St., Manhattan, for 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Manhattan. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank's name may be made to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manhattan would be most appreciated.
