Fred A. Duerr, age 74, of Gilbertsville, KY, formerly long time resident of Oak Forest, IL passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 9, 2020. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Bettiann (nee Mathisen), his children; Fred C. A. Duerr, Virginia (Terry) Murphy, Wendy Duerr and his son-in-law Rick Chavez, his grandchildren; Amanda Kendrick, Michael Earl, Haley Duerr, Rick Chavez and Skylar Duerr, his brothers Robert (Katherine) Duerr and William (Catherine) Duerr and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Edith (nee Earle) Duerr, his daughter Amy Chavez, his granddaughter Sarah Duerr, and his brother and sister-in-law Charles and Marie Duerr. Fred was a proud veteran who volunteered to serve his country with the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a union maintenance mechanic by trade working for several years and retiring from Ford Motor Company. Fred loved to fish and talk politics. He was a man of many talents, he could fix and build anything. Fred was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, a go-to-guy who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation for Fred A. Duerr will be held on Monday, March 16, 2020 from 4-8:00P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. On Tuesday, March 17, 2020 we will have prayers at the funeral home beginning at 11:30 A.M. followed by procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL for committal service with full military honors at 12:30.
