Obituary

Gail L. Schullo, age 76, of Elwood, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. She is survived by her loving daughter Cathy (Amazing son in law, Rick) Nayder, her adoring granddaughters Allison (Fiance, Kevin Bergman) Nayder, Laura Nayder and Emily Nayder, her siblings Mark (Rose) Schullo and Lisa (Chris) Elsen, her sister-in-law, Joanne Schullo, and her nieces and nephews Tony Schullo, Ann Marie Schullo, Rachel Schullo, Molly (Logan) Myerz, Hannah Elsen, Matthew Elsen, Heidi Elsen and Michael Elsen, and her great nephews, Michael Emerson and Dylan Hernandez. Preceded in death by her parents Louis and Joan (nee Kerslager) Schullo, her brother Michael Schullo, her niece Jennifer Rose Schullo and her nephew in infancy David Schullo. Gail was born in Rice Lake, WI. The family moved to Roseland when she was a young girl. They later lived in Richton Park and Park Forest. Gail worked at Leo Burnett Advertising for 26 years where she was in charge of the transportation department. Her years there took her to India and her favorite city, London, several times. When Cathy was young, they enjoyed summer bike rides following the dashed marks along the streets of Park Forest and going to the Holiday Theater to see weekend movies. Gail took Cathy to work with her every chance she could. They loved Chicago and shopping at Marshall Fields. Gail served as a Girl Scout leader for many years in Park Forest and loved taking her troop camping at Butternut Springs Girl Scout Camp twice a year. All this was just warming Gail up to becoming the best grandma she could be. Her favorite past time was spending time with her granddaughters. They baked "fairy cakes", and the girls loved midnight tea parties during their sleepovers at grandmas. They also enjoyed listening to stories grandma told about getting in trouble with the nuns when she was in grade school. Another favorite memory the girls had of Gail was sitting on her dining room table late at night, waiting for cars to go by, and playing a game Grandma named, "Who are you, Where are you going, and Where have you been?" Their imaginations took them to very silly conclusions. Every summer, her and her granddaughters attended the Wizard of Oz Fest, where they all arrived dressed as Dorothy's. Gail was a wonderful mother, grandma, sister and aunt. She enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews grow and she loved having Hannah, Matthew, Heidi and Michael live with her. She believed everyone she met was good and welcomed everyone into her life. She made an indelible impression on all those around her, her smile and silliness lit up a room and she will be forever missed. Funeral services for Gail will be private. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State St., Manhattan, IL 60442, 815-478-3321, www.forsythegouldfh.com
