Obituary

George F. Lamping, age 78, of Manhattan, IL passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the Citadel of Kankakee. Survived by his wife Harriette Haley of Manhattan, his siblings Katherine Lamping and Helen Lamping of Wilmington, IL, and William (Lori) Lamping of Clifton, IL, sister and brother-in-laws, Kathryn (Bill) McGee, Barb Lamping, Robert (Gayle) Haley, Jr., John (Jane) Haley and James (Debra) Haley and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Robert and Faye (Davis) Lamping, his parents-in-law Robert Haley Sr. and Harriette (nee Meyers) and two brothers Leo Lamping and James Lamping. George grew up in Wilmington, IL where he attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and graduated from Wilmington High School. He later became a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manhattan, IL. He farmed with his father and worked at APSA. George served his country with the U.S. Army during Vietnam. After his service he went to work for Paul H. Schwindiner Construction for 30 years as a Teamster. Visitation for George will be on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 3-7:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 603 S. Main St., Wilmington, IL 60481. Interment with full military honors will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Manhattan, IL immediately following Mass. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S.
