Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" T. Siadek, age 65, of Manhattan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at his home with his loving family at his side. Jerry's battle with cancer in recent years showed his great courage, determination, and faith in facing his illness with dignity and grace.

Survived by his loving wife of 36 years Lori (nee Danko) Siadek, devoted children Ashley (Robert) Bonelli, Adam Siadek and Kaitlyn Siadek, grandson Nicholas "Nico" Bonelli, sisters Kathy (Larry) Bennett, Nancy (Paul) Rakow, Janis (Shawn) Healy, and Maria (John) Rebus, brother Jim Siadek, father-in-law Raymond Danko, sisters-in-law Lisa (Garry) Spivey and Linda (Jeff) Williams, aunts Carole Chambers and Nancy Hlebasko, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Lois (nee Kornafel) Siadek and his mother-in-law Marla Danko.

Jerry was born in Evergreen Park and grew up in Dolton, IL where he graduated from Thornridge High School class of '76. He attended the Pipe Fitter apprenticeship program at Washburn Trade School in Chicago and completed the program in 1982. From there, Jerry began a long and rewarding career as a Local 597 Union Pipe Fitter. Jerry was regarded as a true professional in his trade. His recent illness forced him to retire from his position as a Business Development/Project Manager for Morrison Construction Company in Hammond, Indiana where he worked for over 29 years. Jerry loved his work, loved his Morrison family, and loved meeting his many colleagues and friends in the industry.

As much as he loved his work, his first love was always his family. Jerry was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was so very proud of his children and was always "singing their praises". He enjoyed treating his family to many Chicago sporting events and family vacations. One of Jerry's all-time favorite traditions was his extended family's yearly camping trip to Potato Creek State Park in Indiana. There, he taught his children to appreciate fishing, bike riding, hiking, storytelling around the campfire, and the love of family.

Jerry was a long-time active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manhattan. He was a member of the Men's Club, past member of the Parish Council, also served a Eucharistic Minister and Usher. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus Council #4400. Jerry was very proud of his association with the Chicago Muscle Team Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, serving as a committee member for various MDA fundraising events.

Jerry was a friend to many, loved by many, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Let us remember him fondly; cherishing the beautiful memories he has left behind. Rest in peace Jerry.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Jerry's name to the LAM Foundation by visiting www.thelamfoundation.org, a cause that was very dear to Jerry's heart.
