Gerard "Jerry" A. Kiely, age 81, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Alden Estates of Naperville. Survived by his son Hector (Annie) Kiely, his grandchildren Gabe Kiely and Josh Kiely, his brother Thomas (Kathleen) Kiely, his nephew Michael Kiely and his niece Jennifer (Steve) LeFebvre. Preceded in death by his parents Gerard and Emma (nee Albertus) Kiely. Jerry was a graduate of Laraway Grade School (1956), Joliet Township High School (1960), and Joliet Junior College (1970). Jerry attended basic training at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He then served his country with the U.S. Army from November 1964 until November 1966. Jerry then attended Military Police training at Ft. Gordon, Georgia and served 18 months with Drake Kaserne 3rd Armored Division in Frankfort Germany and became a lifetime member. Jerry was also a member of the American Legion Post #5422. He worked as a metallurgist at Caterpillar for 31 years and retired in 1993. Jerry was an avid reader and Notre Dame Football Fan but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Visitation for Jerry will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Prayers will take place at 1:00p.m. followed by a procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood for military honors and committal service.
