F. Glenn Borden, age 93, of Manhattan, died peacefully Friday, August 22, 2014 at Joliet Area Community Hospice House, Joliet. He is survived by one daughter Diane (Roger) Turnbough of New Lenox, two sons; Dwight (Kathy) Borden of Pekin and David Borden of Bloomville, Ohio, one granddaughter Amy (Larry Mann) Borden of California, six grandsons; Stephen, Matthew (Tricia) and Ross Borden and Brian (Brooke), Bradley (Sheng) and Eric (Amanda) Turnbough, and four great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Lillie Corp Borden, his wife of 55 years Olidene Werner Borden, one son James, one brother Elmer; two sisters; Beatrice Hobbs and Fern Smith.
Glenn farmed his whole life in the Manhattan area. He was a long time active member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Manhattan, a former 4H leader and a member of the Will County Farm Bureau and the Illinois State Archeological Society.
F. Glenn Borden will lie in state on Wednesday, August 27, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 140 South Thelma Street, Manhattan, from 9:30 A.M. until time of service, 10:00 A.M. Rev. Carol Currier-Frighetto officiating. Interment Manhattan Center Cemetery. Memorials to the Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Paul's United Church of Christ would be most appreciated. Visitation Tuesday 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
