Obituary

Glenn Francis Gill, age 85, of Manhattan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at his home with his loving family at his side. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Sharon Gill (nee Krapf), his children Roger (Lori) Gill, Annette Gill, and Barbara (Matt) Steffen, his grandchildren Steven (Carrie) Gill, Matthew (Kori) Gill, Teresa (Nick Schmidt) Moore, Luke Steffen, and Abigail Steffen, his great grandchildren Ariana (J.C.) Varkalis, Brandon Rose, Celeste (Isabella) Vuollet, Marissa Cornell and Kyler Cornell, his great great grandchildren Orion and Ares Varkalis, his brother-in-law Kendall (Shirley) Krapf and sister-in-law Elaine Kaske, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Loretta (Nee Heisner) Gill, his brother and sister-in-law Norman and Carolyn Gill and his sister and his brother-in-law Marlene and Erwin Goodwin. Glenn was raised on a farm in Green Garden Twp. He was a graduate of Peotone High School and was a proud veteran who served his country with the U.S. Army. Glenn was a member of Manhattan United Methodist Church for many years, a member of the Old Timers Association, and a lifetime member of the Manhattan American Legion Post #935. He also assisted in security for President George H. Bush and aided in transportation for many Nascar drivers. Glenn enjoyed playing cards, cooking, canning, joking around and spending countless hours with his chickens who he lovingly referred to as "His Girls". Recently Glenn was asked what was his greatest accomplishment and Glenn replied, marrying Sharon. Glenn was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation for Glenn will take place on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place the same day at 1:00 P.M. also at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors and committal service will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL at 2:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in Glenn's name to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 would be most appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S.
