Obituary

Jackie P. Griest, age 85, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. Margaret Hospital, Dyer, IN. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Catherine "Myrt" Griest (nee Strohrigl), his children; Tammie (Douglas) Wilson of Crete, Annette (Donald) Dipple of Davenport, IA, Timothy Griest Sr. of Lockport, and Brian (Peggy) Griest of Joliet, his grandchildren; Brooke, Jessica, Courtnie, Christina, Elizabeth, Tim, Brian Jr., Nicholas, Sean, Randy, Donald "Trey", and Brandon, his brother, Alva (Sharon) Griest, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his faithful canine companions, Bonnie and Humphrey. Preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Fleetie (nee Pelham) Griest, one brother, and four sisters. Jackie was born in Hoopeston, IL in 1930, he married Myrt in 1960, served in the U.S. Army and worked for Ford Stamping Plant in Chicago Heights for 42 years. He was a member of the U.A.W, an avid coin collector and a lover of nature. Funeral service for Jackie will be 12:00 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2015 at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Visitation will be the same day from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment with full military honors will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Memorials in Jackie's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be most appreciated. Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S.
