James A. Markevicus, age 68, of Saunemin, passed away peacefully at Accolade Healthcare of Pontiac, on Saturday, August 22, 2020. He is survived by his sisters Carol (Jim-deceased) Smith and Susan ((Tom-deceased) Oestmann, his brother Greg (Donna) Markevicus and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Alphonse and Bernice (nee Wrobel) Markevicus and his nephews Matt Smith and Alex Horrie. James was a graduate of Thornton Township High School. He was a member of the Carpenters union and the Roofers union for many years. James was an avid dog lover. He also enjoyed fishing and boating and other various outdoor activities. James was a family guy, he was especially generous to his nieces and nephews. James was a loving brother, uncle and friend and he will be dearly missed. Visitation for James will be on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 9-11:00 A.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, Manhattan. Funeral service will be on the same day at 11:00 A.M. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City. In lieu of flowers, donations in James's name to The Salvation Army of Pontiac, 112 N. Division St., Pontiac, IL 61764 would be most appreciated.
