James Raymond Murdie "Jim" was loved and adored by his family and friends. He was a kind and generous man who never hesitated to do anything for anyone. Jim was born on February 7th 1957, in Joliet and lived in Wilton Center for nearly his whole life, excluding a few years living in Wilmington in the 1980's. He spent his life devoted to his family and his church. In 1982 he helped build Christian Life Assembly of God Church in Diamond where he has been a faithful member. He is survived by his wife Audrey (Abbott) of 41 years, son James (Jessie), daughter Jenna, son Jason (Andrea), 2 grandchildren Jimmy and Allie siblings Sharon Colvin (Jack), Patricia (Dave) Propst, Peggy Nugent and Joseph (Donna) Murdie and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Rosetta (Evans), his brother Gordon "Jr" and sister Sandy (Doug) Cullen. Jim worked at Caterpillar in Joliet from the years of 1978-2019. He was a member of the Local 851 IAMAW Union. After his retirement Jim spent time working on projects and tinkering around in the garage. He also enjoyed gardening and cooking. He was a loving grandfather (Papa) and nothing made him happier than spending time with his grandchildren and family. His children's most cherished memories were camping and fishing with their Dad. Jim had a funny side and would laugh until he had to wipe the tears away with his elbow. Jim was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 3rd 2021. Words cannot express how much he is loved and will be missed. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 4-7:00 P.M. at Christian Life Assembly of God Church, 2960 East Division St., Diamond, IL 60416. Funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Randy Adams officiating. A private committal service will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Wilton Cemetery, Wilton Center, IL.
