James J. Rogan, formerly of Manhattan, age 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, June 28, 2021 at his home in New Lenox. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Deborah nee Traven, one son Scott (Karen), one daughter Sarah (Jesse) Passarella, four grandchildren; Connor, Braiden, Dylan and John, one sister Patricia (Roger) Hiller, and one brother John (Lynn) Rogan. Numerous nieces and nephews and very close friends also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents John and Pauline, one brother-in-law Ron Traven and one sister-in-law Meg O'Keeffe.
Jim was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High, class of 1964. He was also a graduate of Southern Illinois University with a teaching degree in science. He taught that curriculum at the Joliet School District 86 for over 35 years. He loved all forms of car racing especially at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, and his favorite destination was with his wife to Key West, Florida. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Jim was a man of many talents and was always there for anyone who needed help.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 am, Thursday, July 1, 2021 at St. Joseph Church, 240 W. North Street, Manhattan. Visitation that morning from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, 507 S. State Street, Manhattan. Jim's family would like to thank the New Lenox Fire Department for their compassionate help. Memorials in Jim's name to St. Joseph Church or The Light Ways Hospice (Joliet Area Community Hospice) would be most appreciated.
