Jane Bross (née Gilboy), whose warmth, kindness, and compassion touched everyone who knew her, passed away on July 25, 2026, at the age of 72.

Jane was born on October 22, 1953, and grew up on the South Side of Chicago. She graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School in 1971 and carried with her the values of hope, compassion, and resilience that would define her throughout her life.

She began her professional life as an administrative assistant before returning to school to become a paralegal. Jane spent more than 30 years working at law firms in downtown Chicago and later in the northwestern suburbs, where she earned the respect of colleagues through her professionalism, dedication, and strong work ethic.

Jane and her family made their home in Calumet City, where she raised her son. In her later years, she lived in Manhattan, Illinois.

Outside of work, Jane found joy in helping and caring for others. She was active in the CHRP program at St. Matthew's in Schaumburg where she met and later married Tim Bross. Guided by her faith and compassion, she volunteered in hospice care and at Silver Cross Hospital.

Jane enjoyed cooking and baking, and her homemade brownies were a family favorite. She was an avid reader and treasured trips to the movies with her best friend, Sue. While Jane enjoyed many hobbies, nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her family. She loved being a mother to her son and found great joy in being "Grandma" to her beloved grandson, Aiden.

Those who knew Jane will remember her warm heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome and cared for, often putting the needs of others before her own. Her acts of kindness, comforting presence, and genuine compassion left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Jane is survived by her son Eric and his wife Jenn, and her cherished grandson Aiden; her brother Marty Gilboy, and her sisters Adrienne Cousineau and Melissa Peirce. She was preceded in death by her father James Gilboy; her mother Gloria Warga; and her beloved husband Tim.

The family finds comfort knowing that Jane's kindness lives on in the countless people whose lives she touched through her generosity, friendship, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Memorial and Celebration of Life

Jane’s family will celebrate her life with a Memorial Service followed by a Celebration of Life reception on Thursday, September 3rd at 6:00pm at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 393 N Main St, Glen Ellyn, IL.
