Jeanette E. Gilleland (nee Scarth), age 91 of Manhattan passed away peacefully with family at her side on Friday, September 30, 2022, at The Cottages, New Lenox. She is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, her children Donald Gilleland and Deborah (Walter) King, grandchildren Jeffery Gilleland, Ashley (Patrick) Murphey, David King, and Victoria (Eric) Duttlinger, great grandchildren Raegan, Ayden, Dominick, Luca, Presley, Austin, Payton, Reagan, Olin, Jaxson, Addison and Aubrey. Jeanette graduated from Joliet Township High School. She was a farmer's wife for many years while raising her children. Jeanette enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. with her husband Don in their R.V. Jeanette and Don also enjoyed spending the winters in Naples, FL. She also enjoyed playing cards and board games with family and friends. Jeanette and Don did most everything together, when more help was required to care for Don and they had to make the move to long term care, Jeanette moved right along with him and continued to care for him at The Cottages in New Lenox. Jeanette was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and she will be dearly missed. Private family only services will be held. Interment Providence Ridge Cemetery, Elwood.
