Obituary

John S. Carline, age 85, of Manhattan, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Lutheran General Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Leah, children; Vicki (Joe) Aleo, Nicholas Carline, Katrina Carline, grandchildren; Aaron, Amber and Caitlin. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. John is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Jacqueline, one older sister and one younger brother. John spent his entire career with the Orland Park Fire Protection District having started there in 1970 and retired as a Lieutenant in 1994. John loved to travel and enjoyed going on cruises, visiting Hawaii and going with his family to Walt Disney World. He supported his children in their various activities while they were growing up and continued to be a source of support to his family and friends. Along with his wife Leah, John was very active with Operation Care Package, the VA Home in Manteno, and anyone that needed a helping hand. He also worked as a receiver at Berkots in Manhattan and would collect goods for the local food pantry. A man of all trades, John was the first one to offer help to those who needed it. He loved his family and will be dearly missed. Visitation for John will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, Manhattan. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, beginning with prayers at 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home followed by procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 235 W. North Street, Manhattan, for 11:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial followed by cremation. Interment to take place at later date.
