John F. "Jack" Rainford, age 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia (nee Sutter) of Manhattan, his children, Lisa (Larry) Paez of New Lenox, John (Melissa) of Bartlett, Jeffrey (Heather) of Channahon, Jason (Missy) of Joliet, eight grandchildren, Jake and Luke Paez, Jeffrey, Maddie, Belle, Rachel, Nick and Adam Rainford, one brother, Joseph (Carol) of Joliet, one niece, Becky Cave, and one nephew, Danny Sutter. Preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Helen (nee Gould) Rainford, one brother, Charles, one sister, Dolores, and his faithful canine companion, Rocky. Jack was born and raised in Joliet, he attended St. Mary Magdalene Grade School and Joliet Township High School, class of 1964. Jack was a Union Rep. for Sheet Metal Workers #265, he retired after 25 years from Arco Supply in Aurora working in the warehouse as a fork lift driver. He most recently worked for Lincoln-Way Area Special Ed District #843. Jack was a long time member of St. Jude Church, New Lenox. He was a "Jack of all trades", he could fix anything, always had a plan or a project going, and could rarely be found sitting still. He was a Bears fan and enjoyed going to some White Sox games with his son, John. Jack enjoyed almost anything life had to offer but found the most joy in spending time with his family, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed. Funeral service for Jack Rainford will be, Saturday, March 21, 2015 when we will be meeting for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Church, New Lenox. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Manhattan. Memorials in John's name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be most appreciated.
