John H. Major Jr., age 95, of Orland Park formerly of Warrensburg passed away peacefully with family at his side at Smith Crossing on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. He is survived by three daughters Barbara Runty of Manhattan, Shirley Ann (Donald Larry) Wennlund of Mokena, Marilyn "Sue" (Bill) Splitgerber of Florida, one son John (Mary Lou) Major III of Frankfort, 11 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Belle (nee Nixon) Major, his wife of 59 years Joan Virginia (nee Keys) Major, his wife of 10 years Robbye Jennings Major, one brother William Major, two sisters Beatrice Baker and Emogene Robinson, and one son-in-law Robert Runty. John worked for Illinois Bell and retired in 1975 after 35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the European Theater and Africa during WWII. Funeral service for John will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Forsythe Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Carroll officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Illini Twp. Cemetery, Warrensburg, IL . Memorials in John's name to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
