John Lester Robbins, age 95, of Manhattan, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family and beloved caregiver Sophie. Devoted husband of Rita (Martell) and loving father of six, "Les" lived his entire life in rural Manhattan on the family farm. Les and Rita were married for over 74 years. Les was born to David and Bridgette (Mahoney) Robbins. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Rosemary Borchardt, Irene Dandurand, Leo and Gerald Robbins. Les is survived by his wife, five sons and one daughter: Robert (Jean) Robbins, Thomas (Sandra) Robbins, Donald (Carol) Robbins, Allen Robbins, James (Pamela) Robbins and Mary (Steve) Meyer, 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Les was a lifelong member of Saint Patrick's Church, farmed his entire life in the Wilton Center area and was a member of the Will County Farm Bureau. Les retired from the family farm at age 93. One of his favorite pastimes was playing Euchre and Pinochle. Memorials may be made to the Saint Patrick's Church or the Joliet Area Community Hospice. Funeral Service for Les will be Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 9:30 A.M. from Forsythe Gould Funeral Home in procession to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wilton Center, for 10:00 A.M.
