Obituary

Kenneth H. Hansen, age 75, of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Monday, April 2, 2018 at The Cottages in New Lenox, Illinois. He is survived by his siblings Robin (Mike) Malsack and Gene Hansen. Beloved uncle, adored by his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as many loving and caring friends. Although he never had any biological children of his own, he had a significant and profound, parental guiding influence on the lives of Kristen and Eric Schroeder, Kerri (Don) Scanlan, Kelly (Kevin) Baldwin and Robert Pratl. Preceded in death by his parents Martin and Anne (nee Edlund) Hansen and his wife Theresa M. Hansen (2016). Kenneth was a graduate of Morgan Park High School and the University of Illinois at Chicago (BS and MS). Kenneth also served our country as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force with four years in Special Intelligence. For many years Kenneth was employed as a librarian with the Valparaiso Library in Valparaiso, Indiana. Ken's wishes to have his body donated will be honored through gifting to The University of Chicago Medical School, where he received innovative treatment for his Parkinson's Disease. Once his remains are returned, Ken will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood Illinois united with his wife. A celebration of life for Kenneth Hansen will be at 11:30 A.M., Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1900 East Lincoln Highway, New Lenox, IL 60451.
