Obituary

Kenneth "Ken" E. Gallagher, age 82, of Manhattan, passed away at home with his family by his side on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Loretta Gallagher; loving father of Brenda (Kevin) McClintock, Rhonda (Matt) Quigley, and Tim Gallagher; grandchildren, Kevin (Shannon) Buzzard, Kyle (Courtney) White, Kasey (PJ) Mendietta, and Mitchell (Mackenzie) Norman; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Shae, Brody, Brayden, Maria, MaKenna and Layla; brother, Rick Gallagher; brother-in-law's, Larry (Mattie) Becker and Dan (Jodi) Becker; sister-in-law's, Betty Gallagher, Barb Hnetkovsky, Bonnie Struthers, and Sharon (Bill) Kiehl. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.

Preceded in death by his son in infancy, Kevin Joseph Gallagher, parents, Eugene and Mary Kay (nee McHugh) Gallagher, brother, Dave Gallagher; sister's, Myrtle (Dan) Brown, and Jeanene Flint; brother-in- law's, Ray Becker, Ron Hnetkovsky, and Bob Struthers; father-in-law, George (Loretta) Becker and his mother-in-law, Irene Becker.

Ken was a Lifelong resident of Manhattan. He was a member of Teamsters Local 179. He worked for Heitman Trucking, Aeropres and retired after 35 years from Brown and Lambrecht. He was the original owner of K.G.'s Korner and Gallagher's Pub and co-owner of The Tipperary and Kid Country Childcare. Ken served as a Manhattan Village Board Trustee from 1971 to 1979 and was a member of the Manhattan Volunteer Fire Department.

Ken was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed his summer home on the Kankakee River and traveling with family and friends. Ken was a people person and made many many friends over the years. He was always the life of the party and will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Visitation for Ken will take place on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 3-8:00 p.m. at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home. Funeral service will be the following day, Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Manhattan. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lightways Hospice or Manhattan Fire Department would be appreciated.
